The Flexible Soft Start Coupling is a pre-configured assembly of the rotating magnetic stator, or can, and rotor. More power transfer, faster speed attainment and reduced torque spikes are key advantages.
The coupling provides an almost one-to-one transfer of power from the motor to the load by utilizing a patented magnetic torque-transfer system that connects the two drive shafts. This design results in a less than 2 percent slippage of torque. By relying on the coupling's air gap, a motor can fully breakaway from the load and accelerate to full motor speed without locking the rotor current. The Flux Drive coupling's air gap also reduces torque spikes and vibration.
The Adjustable Speed Drive (ASD) is the Soft Start Coupling with the ability to configure the linear engagement between the rotating stator and rotor. Flux Drive's ASD resolves several problems common to variable speed drives (VSDs).
The mechanical ASD provides variable speeds without harmonics by relying on permanent magnets and innovative design in its patented technology. Easy to install by standard facilities personnel, the drive system requires no complex harmonic filtering or air conditioning needed by VFDs. The drive transfers torque across an air gap instead of through touching parts. No touching parts results in significantly reduced vibration and no parts to wear out or replace.
