About Flux Drive - Overview

Founded in 2003, Flux Drive focused its development effort on building an alternative to the electrical variable frequency drives (VFD) and traditional shaft couplings. The founders wanted to solve maintenance problems associated with shaft misalignment and reduce the peripheral energy cost associated with variable speed applications. The result of that effort created a family of permanent magnetic couplings that function to save energy through dynamic speed control and reduce maintenance costs associated with misalignment when using traditional shaft couplings. Adjustable Speed Drives (ASD) and the Flux Drive Smart Coupling (FSC) were born.

In 2013, Flux Drive partnered with Tri-Tec Manufacturing to further develop and manufacture the couplings. The product lines grew in horsepower rating to more than 550 hp, with 1000 hp couplings currently in development. In 2022, Flux Drive FSC couplings passed the US Navy’s Shock and Vibrations testing and have been approved for use on US Navy ships. Flux Drive couplings are currently installed on several MSC and Navy surface fleet vessels. The ASD and FSC product lines have been used in many industries and applications around the world such as oil and petrochemical, mining, pulp and paper, manufacturing, marine and commercial applications. Our focus is to continue to develop the product line to meet the needs of industry and our customers.
